The Next Big GPU: "Gaming-Blackwell"

The RTX 5090 is the top model of NVIDIA’s "Gaming-Blackwell" generation. It will likely outperform the current RTX 4090, which uses the AD102 chip from the "Ada Lovelace" lineup. According to a report from VideoCardz, this new GPU is noticeably bigger.

GPU Die Size (mm²)
GB202 (Blackwell) 744
AD102 (Ada Lovelace) 608
GA102 (Ampere) 628
TU102 (Turing) 754
GV100 (Volta) 815

The GB202 has a die area of 744 mm², making it 22% larger than the RTX 4090’s AD102 processor.
