Nvidia is reportedly gearing up to release its next generation of graphics cards, moving from the RTX 4000 series to the new RTX 5000 series, known as Blackwell Gaming. According to rumors, the first models could arrive as soon as early 2025.
RTX 5000 Release Could Be Sooner Than Expected
Rumors indicate Nvidia has already halted production of the AD106 chips used in the RTX 40 series, focusing instead on the RTX 50 series. Only one line producing the AD107 chips remains active for now. This signals the last few months of availability for the RTX 4000 series, with production of many mid- to high-end RTX 40 cards winding down. Add-in Card (AIC) partners are reportedly seeing a drop in supply.
Officially Unconfirmed, but Transition Underway
Nvidia has yet to confirm any of this, and the RTX 4000 series is still officially available. However, final orders for the current generation are being filled, and the remaining inventory will vary by retailer. Lower-end RTX 4000 cards may stay on shelves a bit longer, as they aren’t set to be replaced immediately.
Expected Rollout Timeline
Rumors point to a staggered release for the RTX 5000 series. The RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 could arrive by the end of January, followed by the RTX 5070 in February and the RTX 5060 in March. However, as with any tech launch, last-minute changes could shift these dates.
